Bio-diesel producers seek duty reduction: "NEW DELHI, JULY 5: Bio-diesel producers have demanded reduction in duty on imported raw materials used in production. They have asked the government to revise the minimum support price formula for fixing the price of bio-diesel.
The representatives of the apex body, Bio-diesel Producers Association, met the minister for panchayati raj insitution Mani Shankar Aiyer, petroleum minister Murli Deora and deputy chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia and pressed their demands.

�The government should bring down duty on imported raw material used in bio-diesel for manufacturing units,� said the association�s promoting member R Mansinghka.
The bio-diesel manufacturing facilities of 2,00,000 tonne would come up next year in the country, he said, adding producers would need palm oil to produce the fuel as it was the cheapest. The association also favoured promotion of jatropha plantation in the country."
