General Motors is struggling in their domestic market of United States. However, with the launch of some new exciting vehicles in the Indian market under the Chevrolet brand, GM India has performed admirably in the last couple of months.
The company is now considering a tie up with the Indian Institute of Technology based in Delhi to develop a bio-diesel version of the Chevrolet Tavera.
This research work would be conducted by the companys R&D arm India Science Laboratory which is based in the Bangalore city. This division of the company conducts research on areas like vehicle design, virtual manufacturing and automotive materials.
GM India president and MD Rajeev Chaba spoke about these plans: Moreover, we also plan to expand our entire range of cars substantially within the next three years and make inroads into the high-end D and E segment for which we will be looking at importing our premium models and re-engineering them to suit Indian conditions."
