BCNG Portals Page

BCNG Portals Page: "Expect the barbecue-tinted smell of biodiesel to waft more frequently on city streets with the pending incorporation of the Island BioDiesel Co-op.
Growing interest in the alternative fuel, coupled with limited access to it on the Island, is pushing co-op members toward larger scale production and distribution.
There are currently four biodiesel retailers in B.C. two in Vancouver, one in Port Alberni and one in Victoria. The Victoria station caters to the BC Biofleet and the fuel is not available for passenger vehicles.
With only one per cent of cars on the road running on the fuel, it is hard to convince oil companies to invest in the fuel source, said Kees Schaddelee, biodiesel consultant.
That has left those interested in using biodiesel to home brew it.
Once you have made a few batches it is pretty straight forward, Schaddelee said of the process, which is similar to soap making. "
