Welcome to the world of Biodiesel & vegetable oil. Run your car on vegetable oil and save the ozone layer.

Biodiesel is carbon neutral and produced from plants as the plants grow they take carbon from the air and when they have burnt they release back the same amount of carbon. Biodiesel also contains less harmful substances like heavy metals than regular diesel.

Here on this website you can find lots of information about Biodiesel and its different forms. Links to interesting topics, latest News, newsgroup topics, and lots more.

Re: Clearwater Man Puts Technology To Work - 112705
My apologies for wasting your time. Looks like this guy is a crock.
The efficiency computations are bunk; with a real problem in the
formulations (note the scf/W below; scf/Kwh is the only thing that
would make sense here). This could only be a typo, but sloppiness does
not portend well in these kinds of white papers.

How complicated is the conversion to run an automobile on HHO?
Are they selling detailed plans of this conversion yet?

the question is..how much electricity in for much useable energy out?
To date, I have not seen any form of electrolysis that produces more

Re: Intro and Request
Hey Cristo,
I should be getting paid for my most recent home sale soon, so would you
have time to help me convert my car?
I would really like to learn how to do it and we could even record it to
show others, I think. What does your week look like? Do you have finals or
anything? And do you know anyone who is thinking of buying or selling a

Re: Filter WVO
I was driving back from Houston today and saw some of those 275 gallon cubes
for sale on the roadside in Giddings for $100. I know there's some in
Dallas for $50 but these are closer if anyone needs it soon and doesn't want
to drive all the way to Dallas. Giddings is only about 45 minutes east of
Austin.

Filter WVO
I would like to start planning a wvo filtering setup for Ryck's.
Initially it can be used as wvo fuel but later you can use the filtered
oil in the biodiesel production. It will be a great place to start.
It seems like start out with we need two tanks, a filter and a pump.
Of course also fittings, pipe, valves and mounting hardware, but that

Re: Intro and Request
Hi Dave :)
I don't know any Ford diesel mechanics - Jonathon in the group is a
diesel mechanic but I don't know if he works on Fords.
You don't need to drop a grand to have a wvo system - you can do it for
about $300 in parts. If you are ok with using part of a 55 gal drum
like Ryck has going. He and I put a wvo system in his vw rabbit and it

Thats still not a bad price for a grease car kit. I wish I paid that
much for mine, and if you don't have to pay for the $50 shipping, even
better.
Michael

Re: New Greasecar Kit on Ebay located in San Antonio
did get a response from the seller of the Greasecar kit and he said
he would take less but didn't say what that was. He said to drop him

more about the new blending law
Is biodiesel an approved additive for use in TxLED? The executive director

New Greasecar Kit on Ebay located in San Antonio
I just wanted to let everyone know that there's a brand new Greasecar
kit up on Ebay for $795 Buy It Now price. It's got the rectangular tank
(15 gallons). I mention this because they are on a 4 - 6 week backorder
so if your ready for one, this might be a deal plus you wouldn't have
to pay for shipping. Since I live there, I would be more than happy to

Let me be the first to welcome you to our group. We've got a great
bunch of people that are very enthusiastic about what we're doing. I do
think there is a mechanic in our group but I'm not positive. We
definately have some knowledgable people that can help with the
conversion when the time comes. If I'm not mistaken, we have at least 8

Intro and Request
Hi Everyone.
Really exciting to find so many people into running on BioD...
Anway, I'm new on the list. I've just bought a 1985 Ford F350 Diesel
Pickup that I want to convert to run on SVO. I live in central
austin(Airport/Lamar) and work nearby. Been living here about 2.5 years
now. I'm really glad to find a group of people committed to making a

Re: Susannah's car died - need suggestions
well, Michael can tell you more accurately, but first of all, I had
forgotten what break downs and being stranded in the middle of nowhere

going to the dealership. Otherwise first 15 miles are free, and it is

RE: Susannah's car died - need suggestions
As of about 10:30 last night (after our meeting, the notes of which I'll
post shortly), her car was being towed to Michael's house, where he was
going to siphon all of her fuel out and replace the fuel filter and put in 5
gallons of diesel. The assumption is that there is enough 'chunks' that
slowly clogged the filter...sort of like a drink that has small ice chunks

Re: Susannah's car died - need suggestions
Whats the latest on the cause of engine failure?

RE: Susannah's car died - need suggestions
Running late, headed to the meeting now.
About her fuel, she filled up from my home tank of B99 that came from
Ecowise...I've been running with no problems. B99 should gel at like 40
degrees, from my understanding...although I did have some additive, so it
should have dropped it lower. We'll see what happens with replacing the fuel

Re: Susannah's car died - need suggestions
I might not make it to the meeting tonight, because I'm need to go to
Steiner Ranch so suck some bio-diesel out of her car and change the
filter.
Michael

Re: Susannah's car died - need suggestions
Sounds like it could be the fuel filter even though it's relatively
new. The fuel shouldn't be gelling until below zero. She may have
gotten some bad fuel. She might need to drain the tank and fuel lines
and try some petro diesel and see how it does.

Re: cold weather
Rob,
I haven't encountered a problem with the ignition switch in this car but the
300TD wagon I just bought has had the ingnition switch replaced. I have a
key for the door locks and another key for the ignition. Sounds like you're
on to something.

Re: "Vegetable Oil" Transport Bill HB 72, Next Meeting Time, Location
Sounds like there are a bunch of loopholes. 1) I do not think anyone
thinks of WVO or SVO as a viable fuel source right now and do not think
it could be classified as such, otherwise all the delivery drivers
toting the raw veg oil to anywhere would fall under such rule.
2) Donate or give away the fuel, and have a donations box, or

Re: "Vegetable Oil" Transport Bill HB 72, Next Meeting Time, Location
I am an attorney who uses biodiesel (The Ecowise sold Austin Biofuels
stuff, and now the Biowille from the Oltorf Major Brand) and have been
following this forum. I have been meaning to go to a meeting at some
point, but haven't. I normally work in the Housing area, so this is
not really my area.
Anyway, without researching it in great depth, it does look like, at

Susannah's car died - need suggestions
Susannah called me and said her car died after driving fine for a few hours
today, then lost power up a hill, then died and won't start. She has just
shy of a full tank of B99, and is about to have it towed to Underground VW,
in the hopes that John will be working. It probably just needs to warm up,

Re: Next Meeting / New, Improved Forum
See you at the Madeline at 7:30. Do you want to have the voting online
so more people can vote over time.
Say we have voting up for 1 week. Not everyone comes to the meetings
and people don't seem to check the site much.

Meeting Tonight at Le Madeline's
Hey Guys,
There's a last minute meeting tonight at Le Madeline's for anyone who can
attend. We'll be meeting at the location just south of 38th on Lamar. Sorry
for the short notice, there was some debate over attendance with the poor
weather expected tonight.
Our regular meeting (and last one of 2005!) will be next Thursday the 15th

Re: Next Meeting / New, Improved Forum
I'll probably make it tonight at 7:30 at Le Madeline's. I agree we should
try to incorporate/LLC/S Corp and I think Austin Biodiesel Co-op is a good
name, we should vote on that and the price of shares in the Co-op.
See you tonight,
Nick

RE: Next Meeting / New, Improved Forum
I would tend to agree turnout would be low, but since I'm going to be
unavailable from tomorrow at 5pm to Dec. 24th, I want to at least get some
things out there for people to be thinking about. These aren't my personal
ideas, but rather things that have been discussed in general with others.

1. We need a name. Austin Biodiesel Cooperative has been proposed. If

Re: Next Meeting / New, Improved Forum
I'm all for a Thur meet up, the weather isn't going to be that bad
tonight. When do people want to meet up?
Give me a call to tell me whats going on.

Re: cold weather
I'm all for meeting up on today (THUR) at 7:30.
If your having problems with your car starting up, or running badly,
You might need to add some diesel to thin out the mix.

Hey Rob,
You might check out mercedesshopforum online, those guys can answer anything
Mercedes!
See you after Christmahanakawaanzakah,

Re: cold weather
My car is running very well in this cold weather with the exception of
starting. It's either a bad starter or some thing in the ignition/key
tumbler. When it's cold, it won't even crank right away. I wait for the
glow cycle to finish and then turn the key to engage the starter but
nothing. After several times of that and giggling the key in the

Re: Next Meeting / New, Improved Forum
I think attendance at a meeting in the next week or so would be pretty low due to weather, family issues, travel, etc. Nobody wants to stand around and look at cars when it's this cold. I'll be out of town this weekend visiting some of my wife's family.
By the way my Benz started right up on my diesel tank and it even has some veggie mixed in.

Next Meeting / New, Improved Forum
Hey Guys,
Well, with all of the crazy accidents and expected lows of 26 or lower
tonight, would you all like to wait until Friday or this weekend for the
next meeting? Just reply and I'll take a vote on it. I want to be sure
anybody driving into downtown will be safe.
In other news, Jason has taken the time to set us up a new forum and even a

Re: cold weather
so do you think that I should put something harder in my tank? I
haven't started it today, but I did notice that the pickup power was
sluggish yesterday. I have almost a full tank of B99. Is there an
additive I could add to aid with the running? I would come to a meeting
tonight, but I will be leaving town for work tomorrow, until the 20th

Re: cold weather
Yeah, had a hard start in my Excursion this morning. I let the engine
heat up to operating temp before moving. Last weekend on a drive back
from Dallas, I notice BioWillie is only selling B20 during the cold
months. I think B50-B80 Should be good enough.

Re: dallas newsletter and open thread
So frustrating! The government should be HELPING people find
alternative energy sources not punishing them for doing the right
thing. Time to write some letters....

RE: cold weather
Wow! Glad you made it back ok...what bad timing to have this happen on the
day you have to drive up there!
I traded a couple of emails with Nick about meeting tomorrow (Thursday) and
he said he would check his schedule and let everyone know. I want to meet
with or without him, but if it's impractical due to short notice or weather,

Re: cold weather
I filled up my car with NASTY juice (diesel) so I'm running B50 in my
98 Jetta. On another note I went up to Dallas to pick up two of the $50
TOTES, because I'm still waiting on parts to complete the install. It
took me 11 hours to drive up and back. 25+ accidents. People do not
know how to drive on ICE.

Re: "Vegetable Oil" Transport Bill HB 72, Next Meeting Time, Location
With reference to the proposed law change, I took some comfort in the
first paragraph, which reads:
(a) A person may not transport in this state any motor fuel
by barge, vessel, railroad tank car, or transport vehicle unless
the person has a shipping document for the motor fuel that complies
with this section.

cold weather
At 21 degrees, I have a full tank of B100 that I'm not even going to dare
drive with. Instead, I'm driving my other car. I'm wondering if anyone else
is having good/bad experiences with pure or blended biodiesel.

Jason
