Welcome to the world of Biodiesel & vegetable oil. Run your car on vegetable oil and save the ozone layer.

Biodiesel is carbon neutral and produced from plants as the plants grow they take carbon from the air and when they have burnt they release back the same amount of carbon. Biodiesel also contains less harmful substances like heavy metals than regular diesel.

Here on this website you can find lots of information about Biodiesel and its different forms. Links to interesting topics, latest News, newsgroup topics, and lots more.

UK bioDiesel suppliers map.
Hi all,
I have put together a map of the UK with markers to suppliers of 100%
biodiesel. You can find it here:
[link]
(and you can see my blog here: [link])
I had struggled to find a good list of suppleirs and so did it
myself! If you know any other suppliers then please forward their

Re: Biodiesel compatibility with pre-2000 trucks?
There are probably 4 of us. :)

RE: Biodiesel compatibility with pre-2000 trucks?
Nope, not true at all. Any engine manufactured after 1994 has fuel hoses
that work for BD as they are designed for the Ultra Low Sulpher Diesel that
was manditory in Europe at that time. Vehicles before '94 may have trouble
with fuel system hoses, etc., that are made of natural rubber, as BD will
gradually degrade them. I've had to replace several hoses over time on my

Biodiesel compatibility with pre-2000 trucks?
I have a question for all you biodiesel-knowledgeable folks out there.
I heard from a mechanic friend of mine that it is not a good idea to
run biodiesel in diesel pickup truck engines manufactured before
2000-2002, because those engines were not designed for biodiesel and it
can cause problems.
Is this true? If so, what is it about the engines that makes them

RE: Prices of biodiesel
Hi "ZyLo",

Of course, any diesel vehicle will work. It depends a lot on your budget
and your use of the vehicle. Example - if you need to haul stuff, get a big
diesel pickup. If you're looking at a family car, a Mercedes Turbodiesel or
VW TDI will work great.

The average price for BD depends on where you're at. Here in Olympia, WA,

Prices of biodiesel
Hello all,
I am very new to the Biodiesel world, and am considering my options in
purchasing a vehicle that I can use this source for. What should I
consider when purchasing a possible Biodiesel vehicle? What are
average prices per gallon of biodiesel? What are the costs associated
with making my own?

RE: Anyone make biodiesel?
It sounds like you're trying the acid base method. There have been a lot of
threads on the Yahoo and Infopop forums about the acid base method being
very difficult and not foolproof. Aleks Kak, the guy who invented the
method, has even come out stating that it is not easy, nor something that a

Re: Anyone make biodiesel?
Thanks. I'm in the same position. I've assembled the equipment. But
I don't have a structure yet. My wife doesn't want me to burn down the
workshop.
The link was helpful. Provided several links to methanol supplies.
Still having problems finding a supplier for 100% sulphuric acid. Any
ideas?

That is one place to start. I am working on building a structure to
hold my equipment and chemicals, so I haven't started "brewing" yet.

Anyone make biodiesel?
I have been planning to make my own bio-diesel. But I'm having
problems finding a source for the chemicals. Can anyone help? I'm in
Washington, DC.

Re: Who's here?
Been running B20 for a couple of years now. I'm near Seattle WA.

RE: Who's here?
I'm down in Olympia, and we've got B20 & B100 at Fast Fuels - you have to
join and get a card to run the pump, but it's 24/7.

There's also a lot of info on the Yahoo Biodiesel group:

Re: Who's here?
The best place to go in town is Dr. Dan's Fuelwerks in Ballard
([link]). I'm in Queen Anne, so that's an easy
drive for me.
I'm told the Pacific Pride station at Harbor Island carries B20 and a
Chevron station at 148th Ave and I-90 carries B20 as well (at a pretty
high price).
There is at least one company planning to manufacture biodiesel here in

Re: Who's here?
Do you make it yourself or is there some place to buy it there?

Re: Who's here?
Just signed onto Google Groups. I'm in Seattle and have been using
biodiesel for six months in my 04 New Beetle.
cheers,
keith.

RE: Who's here?
Hi Michael,

I'm the moderator of the Yahoo Biodiesel group, and heard that google had
something that had better archive searching, so I thought I'd check it out.

I'd be happy to help set up the google list when it gets going.

Barry

PS - are you in Olympia, WA?

Re: Who's here?
I started this a few weeks ago, the site has been having issues so I
haven't done much with the group.

Re: Who's here?
Hmmm, this is an interesting site. "Beta" is definitely the term. I
keep getting 500 server errors, and it posted both of those messages.
